R. Kelly Update: Internet Rumors of New R. Kelly Sex Scandal Are False

Internet rumors of R. Kelly sex scandal prove to be false

An Internet rumor has it that R. Kelly was investigated by police for allegedly having a relationship with a minor.

Allegedly, R. Kelly's home in Olympia Fields, Ill., was raided a day before the singer left for his South Africa Tour last month, and that police had signed affidavits from several eye witnesses within R. Kelly's circle, who could attest to the girl spending many nights at his home prior to her seventeenth birthday.

The police and R. Kelly's representatives are denying the allegations.

Police chief Jeff Chudwin told the Southtown Star: "[We] were informed of a possible criminal matter. We investigated the issues, found there to be no crime, and the matters have been closed."

R. Kelly's representatives called the rumors "wildly exaggerated and inaccurate."

In a statement, the singer's rep said: "No police ever showed up at Kelly's house with a search warrant nor was his house ever searched. It is also not true ... that any such girl ever stayed overnight in Kelly's house or that she had been there, but left shortly before some mythical police search."
