Geto Boys Member Pleads Not Guilty to Wire Fraud
3-Jul-2009
Written by: Wiley Taylor

Geto Boys Member could face up to 20 years in federal prison

Willi D, real name William James Dennis, and member of the southern rap trio Geto Boys, has pleaded not guilty to 15 counts of wire fraud.

According to authorities, Dennis allegedly posed as an online salesman for a company targeting foreign consumers who make bulk purchases on Ebay and similar sites. Once the funds were sent, they were then transferred into the rapper’s account and the consumers were sent fake tracking numbers on packages that never arrived.

FBI agents arrested Dennis on May 14 at George Bush International Airport after returning from a trip overseas. Dennis was released on bond under the terms that he surrender his passport and that he is forbidden to travel outside Harris County, Texas.

A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for July 27 and jury selection will be conducted on the same day. If convicted, Dennis could serve up to 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
