Alice in Chains Returns With New Vocalist
3-Jul-2009

New album plus concert tour this September.
Alice in Chains is releasing a new album early this fall—their first in nearly 14 years.
The album, titled Black Gives Way to Blue, features the original guitarist Jerry Cantrell and original drummer Sean Kinney, and features their new vocalist William DuVall, filling in for the late Layne Staley.
Although a single hasn't been announced, one track titled "A Looking in View" is streaming on AliceinChains.com.
The band is also planning a month long reunion tour around the United States, with one show in Canada, starting Sept. 4. According to The Insider, only 11 shows have been announced for the tour, and tickets have yet to go on sale.
According to The Express Times, Alice in Chains’ new album sounds surprisingly similar to the ones released in the 80’s and 90’s. Even the new vocalist has a similar sound to the band’s original singer, Layne Staley, who died in 2002 of a drug overdose. Drummer Kinney is not surprised, however, stating that “it’s not really that big of a stretch to sound the way that you sound.”
“Black Gives Way to Blue” will be released on Sept. 29.
