Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband, Broadway actor Matthew Broderick, have welcomed twin girls into their family.

"The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon," the couple's statement said.

According to People, the girls were born on June 22 at 3:58 p.m. via a surrogate mother in Ohio. The girls were named Marion Loretta Elwell, who weighed in at 5 lbs 11 oz at birth, and Tabitha Hodge Broderick, who weighed 6 lbs at birth.

"Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker's side," explained the couple in their statement.

The twins are joined by older brother, James Wilkie, 6.

Parker, 44, is best known for her role as Carrie in "Sex and the City." In addition to the show, which aired from 1998-2004, the "Sex and the City" movie debuted in 2008, and a sequel is set to premiere in 2010.

Broderick, 47, returned to Broadway in 2001 in the musical hit, "The Producers." According to IMDB, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, but he lost to his co-star, Nathan Lane.
