The Paramount movie is back at first place making competition between the two movies rough.
It looks like it’s a tough fight between the robots and wooly mammoths. And don’t forget the sloth. “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” beat “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” in sales Thursday, according to HitFix.com.
The Paramount robot movie grossed $11.5 million, while the 20th Century Fox children’s movie garnered a close $11.1 million.
“Ice Age” pulled out first Wednesday on its debut. The movie has now made $24.9 million in its first two days of release. “Transformers” has earned $250.9 million in only nine days.
“Public Enemies” grossed $6.6 million Thursday. It is expected to earn between $35 million to $40 million during the first five days of release.
According to Variety.com, “Ice Age” and “Public Enemies” were released early to take advantage of the holiday weekend. About 1, 600 of “Ice Age’s” more than 4,000 runs were viewed on 3-D screens.
According to the Los Angeles Times, “Ice Age” has been strongly criticized by movie reviewers.
It remains to be seen which film will win out over the weekend.
