Sony changes 2010 summer comedy schedule

Sony’s summer 2010 comedy movie lineup has undergone some release date changes that will make the months of June and July chock full of laughter.
Sony has decided to make some alterations to their summer of 2010 comedy film lineup.
According to an article on Variety.com, “Sony has decided to move Adam Sandler buddy comedy ‘Grown Ups’ out of March and into the heart of summer. ‘Grown Ups’ will open June 25, the date originally staked out for the studio's Seth Rogen action-comedy ‘The Green Hornet,’ which now bows July 9.”
In “Grown Ups,” Sandler co-stars with fellow “Saturday Night Live” alums Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider, as well as the star of the CBS comedy, “King of Queens,” Kevin James. The film’s plot centers on five friends who come together again after decades of being apart. Dennis Dugan is the film’s director and reteams with Sandler, since Dugan directed two past Sandler comedies, 1999’s “Big Daddy” and 2008’s “Don’t Mess with the Zohan.”
The Variety.com article then desbribes another film to be released this summer, “‘Green Hornet’ follows a newspaperman who turns into a masked crime-fighter at night. Stephen Chow also stars. Rogen penned the script with Evan Goldberg.”
As for other suumer 2010 films premiering, Summit’s “Twillight: The Eclipse” will open on June 30 and Paramount’s “The Last Airbender,” which is being directed by M. Night Shyamalan, will open on July 2.
Opening the same weekend as “The Green Hornet” is Universal’s animated flick, “Despicable Me,” which will include the voices of Julie Andrews, Will Arnett and Steve Carell, and Fox’s Robert Rodriguez-directed “Predators.”
