The city of Los Angeles asks fans to stay away from memorial service.
Los Angeles city officials are urging fans to stay away from Michael Jackson’s memorial service scheduled for Tuesday at the Staples Center, reports Reuters.
According to Entertainment Weekly, organizers have set aside 17,500 tickets that will be given away to fans through an Internet-based lottery for the memorial service that will be held at Staples and for a closed-circuit screening at the Nokia Theatre.
Police are warning the public to not come downtown and gather outside of the venues because there will be no televisions broadcasting outside and the only way to view the service will be on television or through an Internet feed, reports Reuters.
According to MTV, an estimated 750,000 people from around the world are expected to travel to Los Angeles for Jackson’s memorial service.
