Country star Ferlin Husky, the man behind several country hits including "Wings of a Dove," has been hospitalized, the Associated Press reports.
According to Tracy Wilcox, President of Heart of Texas Records--Husky's record label--Husky was admitted to Summit Medical Center's intensive care unit, Thursday.
Doctors are treating him for accelerated heart rate as well as symptoms of pneumonia. Although his exact condition is unknown, tests were performed on Friday to ascertain the cause of Husky's medical problem.
In April, the singer was hospitalized for congestive heart failure following a month-long tour in Texas.
Known for his many pseudonyms--including Terry Preston and Simon Crum--Husky shot to fame during the late 1950s and early 1960s with several No. 1 hits on the country charts, including "Gone," "A Dear John Letter," which he recorded with Jean Shepard, and the followup, "I'm Sorry John."
By Husky's own account, he has had bit roles in over 18 movies, including "Las Vegas Hillbillies," starring Jayne Mansfield and Roy Drusky, "Hillbillies in a Haunted House," and many others.
Husky is 83.
