Harry Potter star recuperating from swine flu episode
4-Jul-2009
Written by: Sari N. Kent

Rupert Grint, who has played the role of Ron Weasley in all of the “Harry Potter” films, is recovering from a case of the swine flu, but is well enough to attend the world premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” in London on Tuesday.

Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint was absent during several days of filming the next “Harry Potter” movie to recover from a stint of swine flu.

According to AFP’s Web site, “Grint took several days off filming the next movie in the series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ but is still expected to join co-stars on the red carpet for the launch of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ Tuesday.”

“He has now recovered and is looking forward to joining his fellow cast members,” his publicist said. Grint’s doctor confirmed that the 20-year-old actor recuperated from his bout with the swine flu and that he was no longer contagious and could not infect anyone else.

Filming was not disrupted while Grint recovered because scenes of the movie were shot that did not require his presence.

Grint has starred in all of the “Harry Potter” films as well as the 2000 British comedy, “Thunderpants,” and the 2006 dramedy, “Driving Lessons.”

According to the BBC News Web site, “He is currently filming ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ – JK Rowling’s final book about the teenage wizard and his friends. ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ is released in the UK on 15 July.” The release date for the movie is the same in the United States.
