TV Networks Will Offer Live Coverage of Jackson’s Memorial Service
5-Jul-2009
Written by: Bridget Campos

The public anticipates viewing Michael Jackson’s memorial service via television.

Despite a total of 1.6 million people applying for tickets to attend MJ’s memorial service at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, only a mere 17,500 tickets will be available for the public.

According to AAP, Los Angeles authorities have warned, if people do show up without a ticket, they will be turned away.

Organizers have urged fans to watch the service at home, rather than coming in person.

The Associated Press reports that several networks, including ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and E! Entertainment will air live coverage of the Tuesday memorial that’s scheduled at 10 a.m. PDT.

Also, CNN International will air the ceremony to the rest of the world.

Some have speculated if the ratings for Jackson’s memorial coverage will exceed that of the late Princess Diana’s televised memorial coverage in 1997, which had an estimated 2.5 billion viewers worldwide.
