Heavy Metal Band Rocks On
5-Jul-2009
Written by: Jennifer Chan
Judas Priest continues to rock the stage in their 50s.
Ian Hill, a founding member and bassist for the heavy metal band, Judas Priest, said if he was told at age 17 that he would still be a fan for leather at age 50 he’d have “laughed his head off.” The heavy metal legends will be one of the few bands still performing at this age as the band is expected to be performing this Tuesday at the Comcast Center.
The highlight of the show will be Priest playing its famous 1980 album, “British Steel.” From the album came the bands hits, “Living After Midnight” and “Breaking the Law.” Their performance following the Comcast Center will be in the band’s support of its album, “Nostradamus,” which was Grammy-nominated in 2008. Priest will also be playing that album in full.
A band making six records before making a major breakthrough is unheard of today. According to boston.com, Hill commented saying that the major breakthrough is “a sign of the times I’m afraid, everybody wants instant success. Up and coming bands ask me, ‘What’s your trick for getting on?’ and it really is just stamina and keeping at it.”
