Moneyball to get Rewrite
Aaron Sorkin, creator of "The West Wing," and writer of "A Few Good Men" and "Charlie Wilson's War" has signed on to buff up the "Moneyball" script.
The Brad Pitt baseball picture was just days away from shooting last month, but Columbia Pictures president Amy Pascal gave it the ax.
Steven Soderbergh had been set to direct Steven Zaillian's latest draft of the film, but wanted to turn it into a docudrama featuring interviews with real baseball players sprinkled throughout the picture.
Pascal presumably wanted a more commercial concoction. Soderbergh, of "Ocean's" franchise fame, left due to "creative differences," Variety reports.
Sorkin just finished penning "The Social Network," a drama about the creation of Facebook of all things, for "Benjamin Button" director David Fincher.
The script could be ready to go by August and the studio hopes to have a new director by then. Pitt is still going to star.
