Next up is Green Lantern.
Ryan Reynolds, who has been seen in such superhero movies as “Blade Trinity” and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” has just been chosen to play the lead role in “Green Lantern.” The actor is also known for co-starring in the recent romantic comedy, “The Proposal.”
Reynolds beat Bradley Cooper and Justin Timberlake for the role of Hal Jordan, also known as the DC Comics character Green Lantern, reports IESB.net.
The decisions comes as a bit of a surprise considering the fact that Reynolds already has a role in the next X-Men movie, which will be released in the same year. According to ScreenCrave.com, he is also the prime candidate to play the Flash. How many superheroes is too many?
“Green Lantern” is still in budget-planning mode, but is on target to start production in January. Cinematical reports that it is scheduled to come to theaters on June 17, 2011. Martin Campbell is directing, and Warner Brothers will be handling the production.
