Salvation Army Celebrates Christmas in July
Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas? The Salvation Army doesn't think so.
The Salvation Army of Greater New York is working to double its efforts this summer by placing their famous red kettles out in July.
For several years, the Salvation Army has been providing help to those in need. This past year alone, the Salvation Army has provided relief to more than 300,000 people in eight counties who have lost their jobs. Twenty percent more households have had their power cut, entries into homeless shelters have swelled by forty percent, and the number of people who cannot afford to buy food has quadrupled.
During times of crisis, the Salvation Army has been there to lend a hand. In the current economic crisis, their help is needed more than ever.
To boost their efforts, the Salvation Army is celebrating Christmas in July. Salvation Army volunteers will be making an early appearance on street corners with their silver bells ringing and their red kettles where you can make your donation.
Donations are needed to help provide Long Islanders with food, shelter and clothing, and emergency help for payments to utility, rent and medical bills.
The Salvation Army will be collecting donations on Long Island from July 12 to Aug. 15.
