Nas Contests Kelis’s Divorce Accusations

Rapper Nas denies RandB singer-songwriter Kelis’s financial divorce claims.
The divorce between Queens rapper Nas and Kelis is starting to taste bitterer as Nas, in early July, has accused Kelis of largely fabricating his financial background, reports XXLmag.com.
According to tmz.com, Nas’s legal documents claim his label contract brought in $4 million, about one-third of the $11 million that Kelis has charged him of earning.
“I did not receive even half that amount,” Nas’s legal documents assert.
And Kelis has depicted Nas as a dead-beat dad who did not spend a dime on child or spousal support since they broke up in April. Despite her accusations, Nas has claimed he consented to spending $350 on a stroller, $450 for a baby sling and $1,598 for two baby cribs.
His agreement to spend that much on the child, however, will far from appease the near $25K she requests in baby care.
Kelis, who is to deliver Nas’s child within days, has asked to postpone the court date to settle the financial dispute as not to conflict with her giving birth and the days following, but the judge has kept it scheduled for July 21.
The couple got married in 2003, but rumors circulated early in 2008 that the couple could be headed for a divorce. Despite that, they announced that they were expecting a child in Feb. 2009.
Kelis officially filed for divorce on Apr. 30, 2009, citing irreconcilable differences.
