The “18” rated film gets cut to “15” to get more teenagers in the theater.
Brüno is about to clean up his act.
The new Sacha Baron Cohen film is going to be censored and re-released in the United Kingdom.
The original version of the film has an adults only “18” rating, while the new cut is aiming for “15” which would allow those 15 and over to see it. The aim is to get teenagers into the theater to boost ticket sales.
Universal said movie theaters in the U.K. "have reported turning away large numbers of under 18s keen to see the new film," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
On Sunday, Universal submitted a censored version of the film to the British Board of Film Classification that was 110 seconds shorter than original.
The three scenes responsible for the “18” rating involved Bruno having exaggerated sex with his boyfriend, Bruno fellating an unseen dead person via a medium, and various sex acts at a swingers party.
This is the first time that two versions of one film will have been released at the same time in the U.K.
