Suspect Arrested for String of Church Burglaries

Robert Earl Warren charged for robbing a church.

Seems like someone would have to be pretty desperate to rob one church, but several?

Transient Robert Warren was arrested on Saturday as a suspect in a wave of church break-ins, reports the Tampa Tribune. The police were notified of Warren's presence around Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church by two anonymous callers.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, the 42-year-old man was arrested at 11 a.m. without incident after officers saturated the area around the church.

The callers had recognized Warren from a photo in a news report about a burglary at the Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church last week, of which he was the primary suspect. According to ABC Action News, Warren was charged with the burglary of Mount Pilgrim. The investigation will continue and additional charges involving the several other church break-ins are pending.

The transient is currently being held at Pinellas County Jail with a bail of $10,000.
