Paul McCartney Plays Concert at Citi Field

Sir Paul McCartney played the first ever concert at Citi Park, the new New York Mets ballpark. Citi Park is a successor to Shea Stadium - now demolished - a venue where in 1965, the Beatles played a concert that was considered by many to be a precursor to the rock concert.

McCartney played a two and a half hour show on Friday and frequently alluded to that night 44 years ago. "The first time we played here, we couldn't hear a thing because of all the girls screaming and the stadium sound system," he told the concert crowd Friday.

He played more than 30 songs from a repertoire which contained the Beatles, Wings, and his solo work. Such Beatles classics included "Let It Be," "Hey Jude," and "A Day in the Life," which also contained a snippet of "Give Peace a Chance" toward the end. Guest performer Billy Joel joined McCartney on stage for his encore in the song, "I Saw Her Standing There."
