'Iron Man 2' Unveiled at Comic-Con
Comic-Con attendees had the chance to view a panel for "Iron Man 2" on Saturday.
According to MSNBC, San Diego's Convention Center welcomed director Jon Favreau and cast members who promoted the sequel to 2007's "Iron Man." They showed a clip that introduced the plot and new characters. Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke and Don Cheadle, among others, have joined Robert Downey, Jr. in the film.
MTV.com reports that Favreau, Downey, Cheadle, Johannson and Sam Rockwell attended the panel, but Rourke and Gwyneth Paltrow were unable to show up. The clip revealed Tony Stark (Downey) facing new and old villains, Jackson's Nick Fury and Rourke's Whiplash. Newcomer Johansson will play Black Widow, while Cheadle replaces Terrence Howard as Col. James Rhodes (a.k.a. War Machine).
The first film earned $318 million in the U.S. and almost $600 million worldwide, Los Angeles Times reports. "Iron Man 2" is set to hit theaters in May 2010.
