Red Hot Chili Peppers Reunite
After an almost two-year hiatus, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are finally ready to reunite, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The band originally planned to take a break and pursue individual projects for a year, but decided they needed more time apart.
"Everybody was like, 'Y'know, I really like having this time off, not being a Chili Pepper and doing other things. . . . It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready," said the band's drummer, Chad Smith. "You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever -- not in our band, anyway."
The band hasn't set an exact course yet, but plan on taking time to exchange ideas and enjoy being together again. Since the Chili Peppers' split, Smith has been playing with the band, Chickenfoot, which is made up of rock legends including guitarist Joe Satriani and ex-Van Halen musicians Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony. Chickenfoot is scheduled to begin touring August 2, but Smith says the band is willing to work around his reunion with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
