Release of Heath Ledger-Directed Music Video
A music video for "King Rat" by Modest Mouse, directed by the late actor Heath Ledger, debuted on the Web on Tuesday.
The six-minute animated video makes a statement against whaling, showing whales in a commercial ship fishing for humans, violently harpooning them, and turning them into cookies.
Ledger pitched the idea a video that would take a stand against the whale hunts on the coast of his native Australia - to Modest Mouse lead singer Isaac Brock in 2007.
The premise was nailed down but unfinished when Ledger died in Jan. 2008.
The Masses, a film and music company that Ledger worked with, completed the video after his death.
The video debut coincides with the Tuesday release of Modest Mouse's latest album "No One's First, and You're Next," which includes the song "King Rat."
The video was released at WeAreTheMasses.com.
