G.I. Joe Receiving Negative Critical Response
Despite its clear intentions of being the next summer blockbuster, "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is getting negative reviews on its first day of release.
Reuters calls the film, "118 minutes of nonstop mayhem," a sentiment echoed by many reviews.
According to the New York Daily News, the plot of the film is one audiences have seen "a million and one" times. The film's creators were clearly relying on the explosive action, mind-numbing pace, awe-inspiring CGI and big-name cast to carry the film. That, and the 10-year-old boys who will recognize the action figure-based characters. The filmmakers clearly had high hopes, blatantly setting up for a sequel at the end of the film.
The film stars heartthrob Channing Tatum as Duke, Dennis Quaid as Gen. Hawk, Sienna Miller as Ana and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who has another film out, entitled (500) Days of Summer, as The Doctor.
