Michael Douglas' Son Faces Drug Charges
Cameron Douglas, actor Michael Douglas' son, faces drug charges.
According to BBC News, the 30-year-old actor was arrested in Manhattan on July 28 for allegedly possessing and selling methamphetamine (also known as "crystal meth" and "ice"). He allegedly sent the drugs from California to New York between 2006 and 2009. The next court date has not yet been scheduled.
Reuters reports that Douglas is accused of selling tens of thousands of dollars worth of methamphetamine. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison but could end up serving a life sentence behind bars. He distributed the drugs with accomplices who are cooperating with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Douglas's newest career project was the film "The Beautiful Outsiders," but the producers dropped him from the acting and associate producing roles, TMZ.com reports. Director and producer Andrew Jones said that, due to the allegations, Douglas would not be able to work on the film in the United Kingdom, and "it would be very difficult for us to get insurance for him."
