'Step Up 2's' Hoffman to star on MTV variety/comedy series
MTV has put in a series order for an as-yet-untitled variety/comedy series, which will feature Robert Hoffman, one of the stars of 2008's "Step Up 2: The Streets," the sequel to the highly successful 2006 film, "Step Up."
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "Hoffman is set to executive produce the show with his manager, Michael Baum of Impression Entertainment. Inspired by Hoffman's Web site punchrobert.com, the show is a combination of hidden camera, comedy and dance."
Hoffman's multiple talents caught the eye of MTV higher-ups when he performed on the network's improv show, "Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out." He also won last year's Best Kiss MTV Award for his smooch with co-star Briana Evigan in "Step Up 2: The Streets."
Hoffman, who is represented by CAA and Impression, is a classically trained dancer and hip-hop choreographer. He last starred in the 2009 fantasy family film, "Aliens in the Attic," opposite "High School Musical" film franchise star Ashley Tisdale. Hoffman also recently completed the indie drama, "Burning Palms," which also stars Nick Stahl, who played John Connor in 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," ex-"Charmed" star Shannen Doherty, Zoë Saldana, who played Nyota Uhura in 2009's "Star Trek" and Dylan McDermott, the star of the new TNT action/drama television series, "Dark Blue."
The HollywoodReporter.com article also mentions, "On punchrobert.com, Hoffman posts short films in which he plays various characters. The shorts were featured on the CW's magazine 'Online Nation.'"
