America's Best Dance Crew Season 4 Crews
This season of "America's Best Dance Crew" is definitely different from the other seasons. This season's dance crews are from all over the nation and are showcasing different dance styles. If you have not watched this show before, I would recommend that you watch this season because each dance crew is showing off diverse dance styles that will make this competition very fierce. Although all of the dance crews were exciting, these few dance crews caught my eye:
Vogue Evolution (New York, N.Y.): This crew has been in the press lately because this crew is the first gay all-male and one transgender in the competition. This dance crew is showcasing the dance style called "voguing." Voguing is a dance style where one dances to music while imitating poses struck by either a model or on a catwalk. Vogue Evolution was very impressive. Their dance moves were clean and smooth and I am excited to see what this dance crew has to offer in the upcoming dance challenges.
Beat Ya Feet Kings (Washington, D.C.): This crew also brings something new to the table. This dance crew features a dance style native to Washington D.C. called "beatin' your feet." "Beatin your feet" is a mixture of several dance styles including pop locking and crumping. "Beatin your feet" is usually accompanied with D.C.'s native music called "go-go," which is one of my main worries with this crew. If their dance style is best accompanied with a certain kind of music, will this dance crew be able to still wow the judges? Last night's performance did prove that this crew can dance to anything the judges tell them to dance to but, will they go far in the competition?
Rhythm City (Bronx, N.Y.): This dance crew was amazing. When they performed with the "crew's choice" challenge, they were clean. Not only that, they were a breath of fresh air after the rest of the dance crews performed because they stick to hip-hop's roots with break dancing. Rhythm City is one of my favorite picks thus far and I believe they will go very far in the competition. It seems like this dance crew from the "boogie-down Bronx" is one of the stronger crews in the competition.
Southern Movement (Nashville, Tenn.): this dance crew surprised me with their mix of country and hip-hop. I thought they did a very good job of transitioning between the different styles of dancing and they are not afraid to be bold or daring, which is one reason why I like this dance group. This dance group likes to do things that relate to what their dance group represents (i.e. riding one of the members as if he were a horse) and they are not afraid to show off where they are from.
Final Thought: Out of the nine crews that battled last night, the strongest were Rhythm City, Southern Movement, Vogue Evolution and even Artistry in Motion. Although I think these crews are the strongest, it's up to America's voters as to whom they feel should be "America's Best Dance Crew."
