Technology Takeover!
10-Aug-2009

Twitter is down and we lose our minds!

Have we as a society become so engulfed in technology that we lose our minds when we are unable to access it?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. Not too long ago, no one would even think about carrying a cell phone around, the Internet seemed like something out of the movie "The Terminator" and we would pay bills over the phone. But gradually over time all of this has changed. Instead of giving out phone numbers when we meet new people, we are now compelled to ask for a screen name or if the person is on Twitter. I don't even remember the last time I received a letter in the mail, or what we refer to as snail mail. There is no going back from this now; we are becoming more and more about technology on a daily basis.

The fact that Twitter being hacked can make CNN headline news is a bit crazy in my opinion. I am a huge fan of social networking sites, but it has not become a permanent figure in my life to a point where I would not know what to do with myself if I could not access it. Technology has vastly improved our quality of life, but it is getting a little overboard. I don’t think anything can be done to change this because every day there is something new being created that can take over simple tasks we do on a daily basis. I hope the whole Terminator theory does not actually happen, but when you think about it we rely so much on technology for everything that anything is possible.
