Brad Pitt for Mayor?
Despite the idea being printed on T-shirts, Brad Pitt says he will not be running for New Orleans mayor.
On a pre-recorded interview with Ann Curry that aired on Thursday, Brad Pitt shared he was amused by the "Brad Pitt for Mayor" T-shirts, responding with, "That's not what I do best."
The idea of the T-shirt came from a Tulane art history professor by the name of Thomas Bayer, who made a list of 13 reasons why Brad Pitt should run for mayor, reason number two being all the work Pitt has done for the city.
Brad Pitt founded the "Make It Right" organization in 2007 which builds houses for low-income families who lost their homes due to the Katrina disaster. So far, over a dozen homes have been built in the lower ninth ward, according to the Associated Press.
Pitt became a resident of New Orleans in 2007, when he and partner Angelina Jolie bought a mansion located in the French Quarters. In fact, that is what disqualifies Pitt for nomination. In order to run for mayor, the candidate must be a resident of the area for at least five years.
But either way, Pitt showed little enthusiasm to the idea, telling Curry in the interview, "I'm running on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization and taxation of marijuana platform," before adding, "I don't have a chance."
