Aerosmith Cancels Tour After Stage Fall
Steven Tyler's injury from a stage fall has forced his band Aerosmth to cancel the rest of its tour.
According to Actress Archives, the lead singer needs to recuperate from his injuries, which are a broken shoulder and a head injury that required 20 stitches. Tyler and the band performed on Aug. 5 in Sturgis, SD, when, after the sound stopped working, Tyler entertained the crowd with a dance and slipped off the stage.
New York Daily News reports that the 61-year-old was taken to Rapid City Hospital by helicopter. In a statement, guitarist Joe Perry said, "Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour." Tyler said he was dancing "the Tyler shuffle and then I zigged when I should have zagged
and I slipped, and as I live on the edge
I fell off the edge!"
Tyler's injury was just one of the band's misfortunes during the tour, Reuters reports. Brad Whitford, guitarist, and bass player Tom Hamilton had suffered from separate injuries, while Tyler had a sore leg muscle last month that forced the band to postpone several shows. Ticket refunds for the now cancelled shows will be available to the buyers.
