Obama's Vacation May Bring Business Boom to Martha's Vineyard

The president will arrive on Martha's Vineyard, August 23, several days after the rest of his family.

Martha's Vineyard is expecting first class guests next week on their island; the first family. President Obama is scheduled to arrive on Martha's Vineyard on August 23, although his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Malia and Sasha, are due to arrive earlier.

The expecting island is buzzing with not only Secret Service security, but Obama-mania as well. From drinks called the Obamarita, to "I vacationed with Obama" t-shirts, Obama's visit may just be the capitalist boost the popular summer destination needs during such tight economic times. Locals are hoping that summer vacationers that have already left will return for a few days to catch a glimpse of the first family, and that islanders from Cape Cod will also swing by. "We got 25 days of rain in June. With Obama's visit, we can make up for all of June. With the economy the way it is we need to get as much as we can right now," said Island Authentics owner Saurabh Chhibber, as reported by the New York Times.

In the past, Martha's Vineyard has been a secluded getaway for other celebrities, including President Clinton while he was in office.
