Avatar Previews Gathering Buzz

The trailer for the flick was released Thursday and a free, 3D preview is set for Friday.

The first trailer for James Cameron's "Avatar" finally hit the net Thursday.

In addition to the much buzzed about trailer, fans who scored tickets early will get to watch an extended sneak preview of the film for free.

20th Century Fox has dubbed Friday as "Avatar Day" and will screen a 16-minute preview in 3D equipped theaters. The preview will be shown on 102 screens domestically and 342 internationally.

"It was really an idea that James Cameron had to give the audience a unique opportunity to immerse themselves into this world," Jeffrey Godsick, executive vice president of marketing for Fox, told the AP. "People will get a real taste of all the different elements and the scope of this movie."

The sci-fi feature will be Cameron's first directorial effort since 1997's "Titanic," which won Best Picture and is the highest domestic grossing film of all time.
