Billy Ray Cyrus Speaks in his daughter's defense
Miley Cyrus started some controversy with her performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. The superstar performed her new single "Party in the USA" in some short shorts.
Billy Ray Cyrus defends his daughter and the performance that been causing so much talk. "You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people," Billy Ray told Access Hollywood "I always tell her to love what you're doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion,". Billy Ray doesn't feel that he has to change what his children artistic expression to please the public. "I give my kids a lot of freedom to make the art they wanna make, and make it in their own voice".
Disney Channel issued a statement saying that anything the "Hannah Montana" did on stage had nothing to with the network. They also stated "Disney Channel won't be commenting on that performance, although parents can rest assured that all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate for our audience kids 6-14 and consistent with what our brand values are."
