Legendary falsetto singer dies at age 75.
John E. Carter of R&B groups the Flamingos and the Dells, dies at 75. The famous musician, known for his falsetto vocals, died from lung cancer early on Friday at the hospital in his hometown. Carter was one of a select few musicians who have been inducted into the U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his contributions to two separate groups, the Flamingos and the Dells.
Famous for such hits as "Oh What a Night" and "Stay in My Corner," Carter had a huge influence on the R&B world and music in general. In 2000, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as one of the founding members of the Flamingos. A few years later, in 2004, Carter was then inducted once again into the Hall of Fame, this time for his work with the Dells.
