Hancock 2 Has Writers, Will Smith

Fierro and Mazzara will write the sequel's script.

The sequel to "Hancock" is moving forward with the acquisition of writers Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara and the return of the original star, Will Smith.

"Hancock 2" is moving forward much faster than the original, which took over 12 years to complete, writes the Hollywood Reporter. Hopefully the new writers, who both worked on the FX Network's "The Shield," will have less trouble with the script.

The first movie was about a cranky, alcoholic, homeless superhero who gets an image makeover and finds out that he belongs to a long line of immortal beings. According to News in Film, the only known details about the new film's plot are that they will probably expand on the first "Hancock" and may bring in a third superhero guy to challenge the first two.

The creators of "Hancock" have re-signed Smith for the lead role, Wired News reports. Despite mixed reviews, the film took in $624 million last summer, so it is not surprising that Smith is willing to return for the sequel.
