Chris Brown Sentenced Today

Singer Chris Brown was sentenced today for felony assault against his girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown's sentencing was set for Thursday, but the time was changed at the last minute to Tuesday at 2:00.

Brown will serve five years probation, a year-long domestic violence counseling class through Commonwealth Catholic Charities, and 180 days of community labor. Brown is also not allowed to be in contact with Rihanna.

Judge Patricia Schnegg stated that she specifically wanted Brown to perform community labor and not community service. Community labor consists of graffiti removal and roadside clean-up while community service consists of less labor-intensive activities such as washing school buses or working at a library.

There had been some questions regarding whether Brown could perform his community labor hours in Virginia, but those issues have since been resolved.
