Being a teenager is hard, but Miley Cyrus says that being a Disney teen star is "a little bit harder."

Cyrus was on the Today show Friday morning, and in addition to performing three of her hit songs, she responded to her most recent controversy.

Cyrus was accused of simulating pole dancing when she performed her song "Party in the U.S.A." at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this month.

The music number was performed on a set that looked like, as Cyrus put it, a "blinged-out trailer park," and the pole in question was on top of an ice cream pushcart.

Disney refused to comment on the performance but released a statement reassuring parents that "all content presented on the Disney Channel is age-appropriate…and consistent with what our brand values are."

Cyrus admitted that while she understands that she is a role model for young girls, she is still a teenager who makes mistakes.

"I'm not here to say I'm perfect 'cause I'm far from it," Cyrus told Today show's Natalie Morales. "My mistakes are kind of a little bit harder because they are in front of millions and millions of people. It's hard sometimes to smile about it, but it also makes you want to try harder the next time."

Miley Cyrus' newest album, "The Time of Our Lives," is being sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.
