Cult Film "Heathers" to be Remade into a TV Show

The 1989 dark-comedy "Heathers," starring Winona Ryder, will be given the modern treatment in an upcoming TV show.

And the 1980's revival continues, first with "Halloween," "Friday the 13th" and now, "Heathers." The 1989 cult-classic starring Winona Ryder is looking to be revived by Fox into a modern-day TV adaptation.

The dark comedy will be scribed by Mark Rizzo, who will also be the executive producer. Jenny Bicks, who was a writer on the television show "Sex and the City," will also serve as the executive producer.

The project is still at the scripting stages so it is not entirely sure how Rizzo will update the story for a modern audience. But rest assured, the original characters will be there, including Veronica Sawyer (Ryder's character in the movie), J.D. (Christian Slater) and the "Heathers."

In the original film, Veronica Sawyer teams up with J.D. as they systematically murder the members of a popular high school clique, who are all named Heather. The film was directed by Michael Lehmann and also starred Shannon Doherty as the head Heather.
