MJ's Alive? Michael Jackson Hoax Storms the Web
A video of Michael Jackson leaving a coroner's van causes a frenzy.
Michael Jackson has been dead for over two months, but conspiracy theories continue to spread like wildfire across the internet. The latest is a video that supposedly shows the King of Pop walking out of a coroner's van:
The original video, created by German broadcaster RTL, was posted on YouTube for only one day and received over 880,000 hits. Since then it has been popping up on tons of websites around the web.
According to the AP, RTL staged the video to see how quickly misinformation would spread across the net.
RTL spokesman Heike Schultz said, "Unfortunately, many people believed it was true. Even though we tried to create the video in a way that every normal user can see right away that it is a fake."
