Telluride Announces Festival Lineup

The annual Telluride, Co. festival announces its lineup of awards hopefuls.

The Telluride Film Festival – which previously launched award contenders like Brokeback Mountain, Juno, Slumdog Millionaire – announced its weekend lineup Thursday.

Variety reports that the Colorado based festival included several titles that will also play at the Toronto Film Fest, including Todd Solondz's "Life During Wartime," Lone Scherfig's "An Education" and John Hillcoat's long delayed "The Road," based on the Cormac McCarthy novel.

Also screening are several films from the Cannes Film Festival in May: Michael Haneke's "White Ribbon," Jacques Audiard's "A Prophet," Jane Campion's "Bright Star" and Andrea Arnold's "Fish Tank."

The Telluride schedule did not include Jason Reitman's "Up in the Air" despite rumors that the George Clooney picture would be a surprise addition.

Other films screening include Werner Herzog 's "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," and Anne Fontaine's "Coco Before Chanel."

Alexander Payne, who won a screenwriting Oscar for 2004's "Sideways," will be this year's guest director.

The festival starts Friday and runs through Labor Day.
