Rapper Gets 75 Years for Involvement in Fatal Robbery

Max B was just about to make it big when he was found guilty.

Harlem rapper Max B, real name Charly Wingate, was sentenced to 75 years in prison on Thursday after he and his brother carried out a robbery than left one man dead.

Wingate was found guilty of felony murder and armed robbery among other charges, reports The Associated Press. His brother, who was the one who fire the shot, received a 35-year sentence.

According to RapWeekly.com, the rapper is known for co-writing with Jim Jones for a period before the two separated due to financial disagreements. He then did a series of collaborations and kept himself in the spotlight with his off-the-wall interviews and internet videos. He was in the middle of making a debut album with Amalgam Digital when he was found guilty of murder and robbery.

Vibe writes that an assistant prosecutor said at the sentencing: "This case has always been about greed."

Wingate's mother told reporters after the conviction that she plans to appeal her son's case.
