Would you like an Alanis Morissette CD with that Coffee?
Either Canadians really hate coffee or they're just not proud enough of their own Alanis Morissette to promote her new album, an acoustic rendition of "Jagged Little Pill." HMV Canada, a music chain in the country, has pulled all of her albums out of their stores because the artist recently signed a deal with Starbucks agreeing to have her CDs sold in the coffee chains all over America and Canada before it hits music stores.
North American chief executive of HMV Canada insists that the decision to pull the albums has been backed by the majority of their customers. Still, Morissette stands by her decision and doesn't want any hard feelings." My intention certainly was not to ruffle feathers in that department," she said. Hopefully those ruffled feathers will heal quickly so that Morissette doesn't blame Canada for poor record sales.
