The Beatles Back at the Top

The Fab Four are getting back to where they once belonged - at the top of the charts.

The Beatles once again topped the charts thanks to Wednesday's release of the band's remastered catalog and "The Beatles: Rock Band."

USA Today reports that the $260 stereo and $299 mono box sets sold out at many outlets. Even the TheBeatles.com Web site sold out of box sets and new orders would not be shipped until late October "due to the incredible demand."

At Amazon.com, the stereo and mono box sets ranked first and second on the music bestsellers chart, though the site's inventory sold out last week and new orders won't be shipped for at least two to four weeks. The Beatles snagged 15 spots in the site's top 20. Best Buy won't ship for at least two to three weeks.

With 28 million albums sold since 2000, the Fab Four could beat Eminem's 32 million albums to become the decade's best-selling artist. They have until Dec. 31.

"This isn't a one-week project," says Keith Caulfield, Billboard's chart analyst, anticipating the holiday shopping season. "Is it conceivable they could catch up? Yes. I'm confident they'll put up a good fight."
