Facebook Introduces Facebook Lite to the United States and India
PCMag.com is reporting that Facebook has introduced a new, watered down version of their immensely popular social networking website this week. Facebook Lite is being targeted towards the demographic of those with slow internet connections, which includes developing nations and the United States.
According to statistics that were compiled by Facebook, approximately 70 percent of the site's users are located outside of the United States. Interestingly enough, the United States currently ranks 28th in a detailed rankings list of worldwide internet speeds, which will undoubtedly come as a surprise to many people.
Facebook has evolved into an incredibly diverse, complex social networking website that allows its users to implement an extensive selection of various applications, games and other features into their profile. While Facebook Lite is certainly stripped down and more simplistic than the original Facebook, it still allows users to access a wide variety of features.
According to PCMag.com, users of Facebook Lite will still be able to network by accepting and sending out friend requests, updating their status, commenting on status updates made by their friends, browsing through photo galleries and writing on the walls of their friends.
Facebook Lite was introduced to the United States and India this week and Facebook intends to expand the stripped down version of their original site across the globe, specifically to developing nations.
