Copy of Proposal from Iran's Nuclear Program Published on Website
CNN is reporting that an online news organization known as ProPublica.org has published what they are claiming to be a copy of proposals made by Iran in regards to their nuclear program. The five-page proposal was reportedly distributed to five representatives of the United Nations' Security Council, as well as a representative from Germany.
It is important to note that CNN has been unable to verify whether or not the document that has been posted at ProPublica.org is the official five-page proposal that was distributed to the United Nations. The five-page document is entitled, "Cooperation for Peace, Justice and Progress" and it seems to insist that Tehran's nuclear file is closed.
However, U.S. State Department Spokesman David Crowley addressed the official proposal that was received by saying that the document refused to address the specific concerns that the U.N. has about Iran's nuclear plans. He went on to dispute Tehran's claims that their nuclear file is closed by saying, "That is certainly not the case."
While the five-page proposal merely contains several equivocal notions, one particularly intriguing passage from the document states, "The Iranian nation is prepared to enter into dialogue and negotiation to lay the ground for lasting peace and regionally inspired and generated stability for the region and beyond and the continued progress and prosperity of the nations of the region and the world."
