Bacall, Corman, Willis, Getting Honorary Oscars
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the honorees of its first-ever Governors Awards event Thursday, the AP reports.
Actress Lauren Bacall, cinematographer Gordon Willis and producer/director Roger Corman, will receive the honorary Oscars, awards that have escaped them for their entire careers. John Calley will receive the Irving G. Thalberg award, presented for excellence in producing.
Bacall made her screen debut with Humphrey Bogart in "To Have and Have Not" in 1944. She starred in over 30 films, including "The Big Sleep" and "Key Largo." Horror-master Corman has directed more than 50 films and produced more than 300, including "House of Usher" and "The Little Shop of Horrors (1960)."
Willis is a two-time Academy Award nominee for "Zelig" and "The Godfather, Part III." Calley's producing credits include "Postcards from the Edge," "The Remains of the Day" and "The Da Vinci Code."
The awards will be presented at the Academy's Governors Awards event on Nov. 14 in Hollywood.
