Elton John is Thinking of Adopting

Elton John is considering adopting a Ukrainian baby

63rd Annual Tony Awards - Press Room

According to Access Hollywood, Elton John visited an orphanage in the Ukraine with his AIDS Foundation on Sept. 12. He is known for his dedication and service to the fight against AIDS. Some of the orphans are affected by HIV/AIDS due to losing parents of the illness, and others are infected by the disease. During John's visit at the orphanage, he encountered a baby that helped change his position toward adoption.

A 14-month-old orphan boy, Lev has "stolen" Elton John and his long-time partner, David Furnish's hearts. Access Hollywood further details how the couple would love to adopt the boy and have a home together. Furnish has always wanted to adopt a child, while John was originally against the idea.

He attributes his opposition to adoption due to his age, work and travel schedule. John believes these issues provide an unstable environment for a child, and his absence from the home would be unfair.

Elton also adds that a new addition to his family could help fill the void in his life. One of his best friends, Guy Babylon recently died of a heart attack at the age of 52.
