Celebrities Outraged on Behalf of Taylor Swift

After Kanye West's rude interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs, other celebrities rally around, making their anger at West known in blogs and public statements.

When Kanye West jumped onstage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video, the young singer was initially excited. That excitement quickly faded when she realized he had interrupted her acceptance speech to protest on behalf of Beyonce. Backstage after the show Swift gave her account of what was going on through her head when Kanye suddenly appeared on stage. "Well, you know, I was up there and I was standing there and I saw Kanye up on the stage," she said. "I was really excited ... and I kind of wasn't excited anymore."

However, 19-year-old Swift got a second chance to give her acceptance speech, thanks to Beyonce, who forfeited her stage time when she won the Video of the Year award to grant Swift her moment in the spotlight.

Swift was incredibly touched by Beyonce's actions. "It was just so wonderful and so incredibly classy of her and just gracious and wonderful to let me say something. She's just been my hero and one of my idols ever since I was little. She's a great person."

Although Kanye has posted an apology on his Twitter page, that is clearly not enough for the many celebrities outraged at his audacity and lack of courtesy. "Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh*t on earth. Quote me," Pink Tweeted. "My heart goes out to taylor swift. She is a sweet and talented girl and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her. Beyonce is a classy lady. I feel for her, too. It's not her fault at all, and her and taylor did their thing."

"Dear Kanye, What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough??" Kelly Clarkson wrote on Twitter immediately after the event. "Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like sh*t."
