Bing Unveils Visual Search Feature as Alternative to Google
Throughout 2009, Microsoft's Bing search engine has been strategizing ways to increase its popularity as it competes with Google to be the world's most often used search engine. Their latest attempt to attract attention and generate hits is the implementation of the innovation of a beta search and online shopping tool known as Visual Search.
Visual Search enables you to browse through various categories in picture form as opposed to visualizing a directory of blue links. The concept of this unique feature is to help users find results faster than ever before by starting with pictures as opposed to words.
You can easily access the Visual Search function at Bing by utilizing the traditional method of typing in your search topic. Once you have performed this step, you will be able to see the "Visualize" search option on the left-hand side of your computer screen. This feature will continue to be developed through the end of September, which is when the Visual Search feature will be accessible for everyone.
According to PCWorld.com, Microsoft's Senior Vice President Yusuf Mehdi announced the implementation of Visual Search at the Tech Crunch 50 conference in San Francisco earlier this morning. Microsoft is hoping that this move will help to close the significant gap in the search market share that Google currently dominates, with 65 percent market ownership.
