Taylor Swift's Stolen Thunder

Everyone's been talking about Kanye West's interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech last night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Swift won the award for Best Female Video, presented early on in the show. The singer looked shocked and awed at the announcement of her victory; she then expressed gratitude for the award, especially as a country singer. Less than a minute into her speech, West popped up on stage, took the microphone from Swift, and explained to the crowd that while he was happy for Swift, Beyonce's video was one of the greatest videos of all time, to which the crowd applauded. Cameras shot to Beyonce, who generally looked embarrassed at Kanye's declaration. After returning to his seat, Swift was speechless, and looked both dumbfounded and slightly hurt at the intrusion. The singer then had to perform on the New York City subway just a few segments later.
