Taylor Swift Talks About VMA Incident While Co-Hosting "The View"
Earlier today on ABC's "The View," country music superstar Taylor Swift appeared as a co-host on the show and she discussed the highly publicized incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards where Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech to preach that Beyonce should have won the award under the category of Best Video.
Swift admitted to feeling emotions of confusion and shock after West said the things that he did. Although she was admittedly rattled as a result of the surprising interruption, Swift talked about how she managed to get herself together prior to her live performance, which took place just a few minutes after she was awarded the VMA for Best Video.
The 19-year-old described her bizarre experience in detail on "The View" by narrating everything that was going on in her head, saying, "Wow, I can't believe I won, this is awesome, don't trip and fall, I'm gonna get to thank the fans, this is so cool. Oh, Kanye West is here. Cool haircut. What are you doing there? And then, ouch. And then, I guess I'm not gonna get to thank the fans."
Swift followed her humorous rendition of the night's occurrences by mentioning how several other artists and fans supported her backstage at the award show, which she greatly appreciated. She went on to clarify that although West has apologized three times, twice on the Internet and once on "The Jay Leno Show," he has yet to contact her about the incident.
