Facebook Announces It Has Over 300 Million Active Users Worldwide

The Internet's largest social networking community announces that it has 300 million active monthly users located all around the world.

The overwhelming popularity of social networking Web sites has taken the Internet community by storm in recent years. The World Wide Web's largest social network Web site, Facebook, has announced that it now has 300 million active users located worldwide. BBC News is reporting that Facebook is far ahead of schedule in terms of turning a profit, which the company did not expect to happen until sometime next year.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, clarified the long-term aspiration that the company has, saying, "We are succeeding at building Facebook in a sustainable way. We are just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone. We face a lot of fun and important challenges that require rethinking the current systems for enabling information flow across the web."

Remarkably, the company announced that they had over 250 million active users back in the month of July. Facebook is achieving a staggering amount of success in terms of their continued global expansion, which is exemplified by the company's statistic that shows an average of five million new users per week are signing up for an account at the social networking Web site.

The growth of the company's global network has forced Facebook to adjust accordingly when it comes to handling finances, but, according to Facebook analyst Nick O'Neill, the company has the potential to generate billions of dollars in revenue in the future if its success continues.
